Spring Awakening
The Viennese shoe manufacturer Ludwig Reiter (founded 1885) presents for Spring/Summer 2008 a collection of sandals, loafers, moccasins, sportive shoes, espadrilles, flip-flops, boots, bags,... for men and women inspired by Old-Austria with a touch of British ironic style and Italian chic.
The pieces on this site are entitled "Disegno Italiano". They are made of luxurious fabrics from Venice. From 1815 until 1886 Austria has occupied Venice. From the time before, the late Baroque (18th century) the dessins for these fabrics are originally taken; some say fabrics with the dessin like on this photo have been used as tapestry in the legendary Corte del Diavolo in Venice's former sinister part of town …
Since Marco Polo's times Venice is famous for its weaving techniques which have provided Europe with the most luxurious textiles for interior and clothing made of brocade, damask, velvet, and silk.

The red/white jacquard decorates the market bag, the espadrilles, and the gardener. You can use the gardener even directly in Venice in times of "aqua alta".
