The Fashion Presentation
This year's collection premiered in January 2008 at the "Lustenauer Stickereiball", the ball of the Austrian Embroideries in Lustenau.
On 13 June 2008 the second presentation will be held in front of a wider public on the Kirchplatz Lustenau. The fashion event opens with a music performance until the couture pieces by the ESMOD students will be shown. Bars beside the catwalk invite fashion addicts from around the region (Austria, Switzerland, Germany) to celebrate the glamorous fashion night.
The History of the Austrian Embroideries
The traditional technique of embroideries has one of its centers in the Lustenau, Austria. Since the Middle Ages women of this region - called "Bregenzerwald" - had spun flax and woven it to linen in home work. Since the mid 18th century the industrialisation began in this region; 1753 the "Austrian Embroideries" have been founded. In 1868 the first embroideries have been made with machines. Until today the embroideries are manufactured in small companies, mostly leaded by the families of the founders. The industrialisation hasn't changed for the owners the structures of their business; "living and stitching" under one "roof" is still for some of them a daily routine. Find out more www.sticker.at
