Dolce&Gabbana for Sony Ericsson
fall/winter 2009/10

Design concept for women's mobile phones

For fall/winter 2009, Sony Ericsson presents the new fashion mobile phone collection with the name 'Jalou'. Probably the name 'Jalou' - the French word means jealous, was chosen because the accessories-like mobile is made to impress others; a very female attitude. It is shorter than a lipstick to fit easily into the smallest handbags. The case of the only 73 mm long mobile phone has a facet-cut jewel form for the diamond shape. The design concept was to create exclusive looking fashion accessories for women's handbags, especially clutches.

Dolce&Gabbana design

A special limited edition of the collection in sparkling rose with 24 carat gold plating is designed by the Italian designer duo Dolce&Gabbana. For this exclusive Jalou, materials and content are different than from the general Jalou collection: the sparkling rose of the case, the protective satin bags in rose and the Dolce & Gabbana branded headset with gold accents are the hardware specials. For the fashion addicted target group, Sony Ericsson has uploaded photography and video clips from Dolce&Gabbana’s women’s Fall/Winter 2009/10 runway show with backstage impressions. The Dolce&Gabbana blog sends the latest trends, news and gossip directly to the mobile phone via an RSS feed. The Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana will hit the stores in October 2009.

On the website www.dolcegabbana.com the designers are presenting the fall/winter 2009/10 collection with pieces that seem to be inspired by the very feminine but self-assured looking women of the 30ies/40ies. They are wearing animal printed dresses with accentuated shoulders and pant suits in a driven back male cut to show the female body in a 70ies YSL-style. The website's navigation is extended with news from the label; one of these news is the brand new mobile channel www.dolcegabbanamobile.com.

Trend research by Sony Ericsson

To find out what is hot and trendy next year, Sony Ericsson has explored art, architecture, furniture, couture and fashion.

“Structured forms, intricate corners, hidden depths and jewel accents are set to be some of the hottest fashion trends in 2010. You can also expect to see deep and natural jewel colours on the runway next year. Jalou reflects these trends with its delicate facet-cut diamond shape design, clean and expressive lines and variety of different shine and matt finishes, that give depth to the handset,” comments Charles Hunt, Jalou head designer at Sony Ericsson. “The design team wanted the handset to reflect beauty found in nature. They looked at structure, strength and form in various crystalline jewels, which resulted in the unique shape.”

Jalou has a 3.2 megapixel camera, music player, video recording, 3G, Bluetooth, built-in FM radio and Internet. The mobile phone will be available in gem inspired colours like Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black www.sonyericsson.com.
