Has Pope Franciscus changed the style of crosses in jewellery?

Probably one of the most interesting trends at the end of 2013 is the pure design of crosses.

Pope Franciscus has already influenced with his style of understatement with a twist the look of fashion pieces such as seen at items by Viennese jeweller Skrein. And it is very possible that the new pope of the Christians not only changed the visually perceptible design of crosses in jewellery but also the style of living and working together.

fig.: Gold and diamond pieces by Viennese jeweller Skrein, seen in mid-December 2013. The images on this page show crosses in puristic design. They are hanging on simple leather bands. The tape of the ring with diamonds (picture right) is dancing the twist and the ring (below, right) makes think of an endless loop which throws the light of diamond stars.

Since October, the jeweller works exclusively with fair gold and fair diamonds. 'Fair' means in this context that Skrein's pieces are made from recycled gold and gold from mines with controlled labor conditions and that Skrein uses only diamonds which are guaranteed from conflict-free origin, such as it is stated on skrein.at.
