fig.: Kente-scarf for the pretigious clothing of the Ashanti, Ghana. The scarf is made of 18 stripes of silk/cotton with woven pattern, 20th century - before 1973.
The exhibition presents the collection of the former director (1974-78) of the Textile Museum Dr. Brigitte Menzel. Between the 60ies and 80ies Dr. Menzel acquired textiles of Ashanti and Ewe (Ghana and Togo). Today Krefeld has the most important collection for African textiles in Germany. next>>>
