Time and space

Fashionoffice collected some pieces around the theme time and space like an artwork which explores space with found paper objects, or an urban-sportive fashion line with origins in the mid 19th century that is translated into a contemporary store concept, as well as a new fashion project on an architecture-series which started in the 1920s, and mixed them with some items that came recently into the stores or will arrive next year.

SurfaceEffects#3 by Jessica Labatte, 2010. Courtesy the artist and Golden Gallery, Inc. Jessica Labatte has created a new installation for the exhibition from 4 Dec to 2 Jan 2011 at the 'UBS 12 x 12: New Artists/New Work'-series of the MCA - Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. For her exploration of color and space, she is working with found paper objects and photography. Artist Jessica Labatte, who has studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, says: "This installation is part of my larger practice of exploration of studio creations, and the process of building images. They both deal with representations and misrepresentations and the qualities of space and flatness within an image."

Woman in Burberry Brit, FW2010/11. On 27 November 2010, the London headquartered brand Burberry has opened after two existing Burberry Brit stores in US, both in New York, the first European Burberry Brit store in Milan. Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey, who is responsible for the overall Burberry fashion, beauty, and communications concept, has created the store as a reflection of Burberry's comfortable sportive Brit-line and the label's activities in digital media with British materials/themes and flat screen LED video walls.

Sunglasses DG4107 from the 'MDG' collection by Dolce & Gabbana in collaboration with Madonna, SS2011. The first MDG collection was launched in Spring 2010. The MDG website presents a film, which could be entitled 'Backstage' with Madonna in the main role wearing the glasses from the premiere collection.

Eau de Parfum 'Minuit Noir' from the 'Midnight Collection' by Lolita Lempicka, limited edition FW2010/11. Photo: (C) Luc Monnet. Fashionoffice has tested the perfume in the signature apple flacon: the oriental mix of violet, patchouli, iris evokes a warm inner feeling and impressions of chocolate-cookies and liqueur. Probably, you can't get enough of it. It's adviced to "spray on abundantly before night falls… and slip, enigmatic and beautiful, between the satin sheets of the night."

Ring with diamond in antique brown by the Viennese juwelers A.E. Köchert, seen in FW2010/11.

Paper shopping bag of the 'Mode:Block' pop-up stores in Vienna, FW2010/11. Photo: Emanuel Jesse mode.gbfestival.at. Three pop-up stores with limited editions of designer pieces (Bitten Stetter/Hamburg, House of Boing/Vienna, etc.) that refer to the city Vienna opened in late November 2010. The stores are part of the Viennese fashion-architecture project 'Mode:Block', which is dedicated to the 'Wiener Gemeindebau'. The 'Gemeindebau' is a series of apartment buildings, which had been started in the 1920s based on the idea that everybody should have a modern living space. In the list of architects of the first social apartment buildings can be found scholars of Otto Wagner or the first female student at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna (today University of Applied Arts) Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky; she was even the first Austrian female architect. Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky is best known for her 'Frankfurter Küche'; a very practicable kitchen for a small space, which she has developed during the work on the concept 'Gemeindebau' together with Anton Brenner. The kitchen exists until today as it was developed in the 1920s in the Gemeindebau-case study-apartment 'Wohnmaschine'.

'Pimp my Packerl' from the Christmas collection 2010 by the Viennese paper specialist Huber & Lerner in collaboration with designers of 'dasuno' who have used Huber & Lerner's traditional method of steel engraving and combined historical motifs with modern illustrations and photos, seen in FW2010/11.

'Skin Ergetic Day' face care with extracts of fruits (apple...) and vegetables (tomato...) by Biotherm, launched in FW2010/11.

'Movie Star Red' eye shadow 'Cream Colour Base' from the 'Stylish Yours' collection by MAC Cosmetics, comes out in January 2011 (limited edition for one month).
