Another example for Manuel Graf's approach to the interdisciplinarity of art and design is his installation 'Buchtipp 2' from 2010. In 'Buchtipp 2' he introduced to Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner - a forward thinker of education (Waldorf School) and social life from the beginning of the 20th century, in a stage setting where philosophy, art and fashion - especially Graf's signature wedges, inter'play' (knowledge production in a playful way). Education, art, and... shoes

Knowledge production is not limited to schools and teachers make the experience that the process of design is not limited to the creation of consumer goods. Design, art and education exist in an interplay which is discussed in exhibitions.

The upcoming exhibition 'Beyond Gestaltung' explores the interrelationship of art and design and the impact of design on social life (politics, culture, art) and the production of knowledge.

Manuel Graf (born 1978, DE) - combines social philosophy, popular fashion, and art, is one of fifteen artists and designers whose works are presented at the interdisciplinary exhibition 'Beyond Gestaltung' from 10 September to 6 November 2011 at the Bielefelder Kunstverein (Germany).

The Kunstverein announces additionally to the art/design show, the lecture program 'Gestaltung – an Interdiscipline'. It will be held from October 2011 to January 2012 in cooperation with the Faculty of Design at the University of Applied Sciences, Bielefeld.
