Art for health

The production of art and design can support the healing process - as a therapy and as an instrument to collect money for social projects.

On 23 August 2011, US designer Yali Derman will introduce into these aspects of creative work at a charity event at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Chicago.

Yali Derman started with design during her medical therapy against cancer and launched later her own 'Yali's Carry On'-label which has already collected very successful money, mainly for kids projects. Additionally to her design activities, Yali is student of nursuring at the University of Pennsylvania.

Yali Derman believes "that cancer survivors can carry on in the face of their medical baggage." mcachicago.org

On 23 August 2011, the designer and cancer survivor will discuss the idea of 'art as healing' on occasion of the 'MCA Store'-charity through August, September. The proceeds support an organisation of the Children’s Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Chicago.
