Video: The making of 'Goiserer' boots. Since approximately 140 years, the shoe maker family of Rudolf Steflitsch-Hackl produces in Bad Goisern (Salzkammergut) the 'Goiserer'. The shoes were worn by personalities like Emporer Franz Josef and Empress Sisi for mountain touring. Today, the Goiserer can be designed for the use on mountains as well as city boot; the pieces vary - from matching to Tracht (traditional Austrian rural costume) to urban fashion footwear - it's up to the customer in which way the design of the handmade shoes goes. |

In March 2012, Austria.info presents some tips for holidays on a map. One of them is derived from the idea to experience the country by following Austria's culture and fashion heritage.
Austria's fashion heritage is 'pointed' on the interactive map on Austria.info with additional weather information, live webcams, culinary tips, etc such as the textile technique Indigo printing in Burgenland, women's costume in the Bregenzerwald, or the wool fabric loden from Schladming. For some of the fashion points, Austria.info provides videos like for the handmade shoes 'Goiserer' (video above) which are born from the tradition of mountaineering and provide an impression of the geography of the Salzkammergut.
Video: Another presented point and video is the 'Ausseer Handdruck' - a hand printing technique that has a long tradition in Bad Aussee (Salzkammergut). Traditional patterns are pressed by hand with wooden models on cotton, silk or linen.
