Fabergé on the red carpet in Venice

On 29 August 2012, 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' with Kate Hudson in the role of a New York artist was the opening film of this year's Film Festival in Venice. On occasion of the world premiere of the film, she appeared in a semi-transparent long dress, (very) high heels and Fabergé jewellery on the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the 69th Venice International Film Festival at Palazzo del Cinema.

The movie 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' elaborates the social political theme of prejudging. Xan Brooks says in his video film critic on guardian.co.uk that 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' is about "...ambivalence, and confusion, and identity in the globalized world..."

Actor Riz Ahmed plays in the movie the main character 'Changez' - a Pakistani in New York whose life changed with 9/11. Ahmed says in a video report published by Reuters: "... we are to some extent defined by the labels slung around our neck and that's not something that happens by our own choosing, it's something that we're kind of born with."

The video by Reuters shows scenes from the red carpet on the opening day in Venice on 29 August 2012 with footage from the movie 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist', interviews with New York based director Mira Nair about the intentions of the movie to build bridges between worlds after the 9/11 attacks, etc. Find the transcription of the interviews on dailymotion.com.
