Anthony Hopkins' makeup for his new role

In April 2012, the first photo from the set of the upcoming movie 'Hitchcock' with Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johannson and Jessica Biel in the main roles was unveiled to the public. (The filming started this month; the movie release is announced for 2013.)

The photo shows Oscar-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins in the makeup created by artist Howard Berger. The invisible mask is made of natural appearing 'makeup' which transforms Anthony Hopkins into the master of 'suspense', director Alfred Hitchcock.

Hopkins is a fan of Hitchcock since he has experienced so much fear like never before and again in his life while watching the legendary movie 'Psycho' on a Sunday evening in October 1960 in Manchester. Hopkins says that the movie 'Hitchcock' is his most thrilling project since 'The Silence of the Lambs'.

Video: Makeup artist Howard Berger makes a tour through his studio KNB EFX and talks about the makeup and creature effects used on 'Xena: Warrior Princess'. KNB EFX Group was founded 1988 by Gregory Nicotero and Howard Berger. The studio has worked for movies like 'Inglourious Basterds', 'The Transformer Trilogy', or 'Kill Bill' (1 and 2). Howard Berger has received already several awards like the Hollywood Film Festival Award 2005 'Make-Up of the Year' for 'Sin City' with Mickey Rourke, and for 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' the British Academy Award and the Academy Award for 'Best Achievement in Make-up' in 2006.
