Shoemaker workshop at a museum

...in Vienna on 5 October 2013 on occasion of the city's 'Long Night of Museums'.

The association for the promotion of the shoemaker's craft (original title 'Verein zur Förderung des Schuhmacherhandwerks') sent photos and information about the activities of Viennese shoemakers such as the catwalk photo from the latest 'Crazy Shoe Awards' on this page; the recycling-sports pumps are made from American football upper material and Coca Cola can-heels.

Now on 5 October, the museum by the Viennese shoemakers, the 'Wiener Schuhmuseum' organizes a workshop for kids where they can try out the shoemaker's craft by experimenting with material.

fig.: The Wiener Schuhmuseum shows fantastic shoe creations such as toe and clown boots alongside to items from the history of footwear making from daily fashion to orthopedic shoes, machines and manufacturing tools. The historical collection consists of pieces from the last centuries - from Emperor Franz Joseph's riding boots over Empress Sisi's shoes to sports shoes of Austrian footballer Matthias Sindelar.
