No human frailty escaped her keen glance: clothes, gestures, the facial features of those she observed, whether they were millionaires or beggars, were intensified in her photographs in a characteristic perspicaciousness that saw beyond the merely individual to underlying social conditions. The photographs of Vienna-born Lisette Model (1901 - 1983) have become icons of 20th century photography and influenced succeeding generations of photographers, ranging from Larry Fink to Diane Arbus and Nan Goldin.

Keine menschliche Schwäche entging ihrem Blick: Kleidung, Gestik, Gesicht der von ihr Beobachteten - ob Millionär oder Bettler - verdichten sich in ihren Fotografien zu einer charakteristischen Schärfe, die über das Individuum hinaus auf die gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse weist. Damit hat die Wienerin Lisette Model (1901 - 1983) Ikonen der Fotografie des 20. Jahrhunderts geschaffen, die mehrere Generationen von Fotografinnen und Fotografen beeinflußt haben, von Larry Fink über Diane Arbus bis Nan Goldin.
