The Denim Bible 2006
Jeans Encyclopedia II
The fashion magazine Sportswear International (international trade magazine for jeans and young fashion) has launched the new edition in October at Frankfurt's Book Fair.

The Denim Bible provides you with fascinating anecdotes a look behind the scenes of the history of jeans until now: the history of jeans began with the Bavarian-born Levi Strauss who came to America in 1847 and developed the practical pants for the workers in the "Californian Gold Rush"-mines. Today, everybody wear jeans and the fabric "denim" still transports connotations which are central in the work of designers.

The easy to use A to Z index navigates you through jeans brands, personalities and terms, illustrations show you product innovations, looks, styles, fits, most bizarre commercials, and the brashest designer outfits. You will find around 700 jeans terms explained and discussed on nearly 400 pages.

Do you know what an acid wash is? How are jeans bleached? What is a saddle stitch? Why are jeans mainly blue, and why do they have five pockets? Who invented the zipper? Where does the indigo plant grow? Do you know the meaning behind the cult terms "cowboy," "rodeo" and "Hollywood"?

The answers are available at your bookstore (from December 2006)
or on the website denimbible.sportswearnet-special.com.
