Metalsmith/jeweler Emily Watson creates pieces which are strong connected with the body. Some of her designs are to wear like clothes such as the "Threaded Necklace-plaid".
"Medicine is an important part of my extended family history, and has consequently been a vivid resource in my work. Drawing on medical illustration, I animate images of the body and reinvent them as wearable objects. Emily Watson, born 1974, lives near Rochester, NY. In 2003 she received a BA from Oberlin College, and in 1996 a MFA in Metals from SUNY New Paltz.
