Inspiring stone and metal

Fashionoffice has collected some creative ideas about stone and metallic material: the new collection by Kilian Kerner, the tiles by ceramic producer Villeroy & Boch, the marmorated glasses by Dior, the 'Medusa' bracelets by jewellery designer Daniela De Marchi, and the dressing up of the Viennese restaurant 'at eight' that transforms its look with table'wear' each day at a certain time for a sexy evening...

Fashionoffice has received the information about the new collection of the German designer Kilian Kerner together with the invitation to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. Kilian Kerner will present there on 10 July the new SS2011 collection entitled 'Flieg zum Mond und bleib hier', which means as much as 'Fly to the Moon and stay here'. Kilian Kerner is known for arranging music live acts to his catwalk shows; this year, lead singer Ben Ivory from the Berlin rock-electro band SplinterX will contribute the brand new song 'fly to the moon and don’t go away' to the show of ca. 50 outfits in comfortable jersey materials. The signature of this collection are asymmetries constructed by flounces and folds in earthy and metallic colors.

The German headquartered ceramics manufacturer Villeroy & Boch began in 1748 in France as a producer of ceramic tableware. Today, Villeroy & Boch produces alongside to tableware, bathroom and wellness products.

The tiles on this page are part of the special design for the catwalk event in Berlin: Villeroy & Boch has contributed the tiles for the runway and a special edition for the back wall - such as you can see here.

Bracelets 'Bracciale Medusa' by the Italian designer Daniela De Marchi, SS2010.

Daniela De Marchi graduated from the ‘Istituto Europeo del Design’ in Milan. She has founded her label in 2000. Daniela De Marchi has developed an own technique, which she has taken from the production of wax to create the form of 'Dropage'. For the 'Dropage'-effect, she is using heat to bring the material to a liquid state and then she brings it back again to a solid state of tiny drops. The bracelets with the name 'Medusa' on this page are made of the same technique. Probably the Italian designer was inspired by 'Medusa' from the Greek myth who transformed everybody who looks into her eyes into the 'solid state' of stone.
