On 22 May 2007 Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation was launched at the 60th Cannes Film Festival. The Foundation is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of important neglected films from around the world.

Giorgio Armani, a friend of Martin Scorsese since 1990, when the Director filmed "Made in Milan", a short documentary on Giorgio Armani, announces his support for the new non-profit organization.

The mission of the World Cinema Foundation is fundamental to the preservation of important films from around the world, which will inspire and influence future generations.
