Video: 'The Architect' by the Belgian (Antwerp) band dEUS from the album 'Vantage Point' (April 2008); video by Arnaud Delord, Caleb Krivoshey and Frank Seiler from ADN Factory. (The French production company ADN Factory has published several videos online; one film is about Martin Margiela men's wear collection spring/summer 2007 www.adnfactory.fr.)

The song was inspired and contains voice samples by the American architect, author, designer, futurist... Buckminster Fuller (1895 – 1983).

"I've reason to believe that what I find
Is gonna change the face of humankind
And all these years before, well I was blind
That's my conclusion

Cause I'm the architect" source

Cytarafig.: Cytara's look was inspired by the graphical creation of the Viennese (Austria) philosopher Otto Neurath (1882 - 1945). He was the mind behind the creation of the Isotype for easy communication with icons. You can find these icons on airports, washrooms, museums... They are showing the way to escape routes, male or female toilettes, and sometimes it can happen that you can not distinguish between an Isotype in a museum and an artpiece. Similar ideas of quantifying information can be found in Buckminster Fuller's work. (You can hear Buckminster Fuller speaking in the video from "dEUS" above.)

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is running the exhibition 'Buckminster Fuller - Starting with the Universe' from 14 March until 5 July 2009. The American thinker was believing in the interconnectedness of all things... mcachicago.org.

Learning machines and our role of designing them is the main theme of this month's Fashionoffice Insight

You are the architect!

It's the first time in history that the masses are structuring a media by using a common 'brain'. This 'brain' with its 'thinking memory' makes the real nature of the internet; it is ‘learning’ your behaviour!

New internet technologies are quantifying your behaviour and interests as anonymous information

The ones who are interested to benefit from the new technologies more individual can add interest categories (associated with the browser) to receive ads that are of interest.

For all the ones who are not interested in designing the internet with all consequences (you will get ads which match to your interest - the anonymous information comes from the cookie of your browser), we have updated our terms of use according to the new technologies: "We have contracted with third parties to monitor certain pages of our website for the purpose of reporting website traffic, statistics, advertisement 'click-throughs', information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you, and/or other activities on our website. Where authorized by us, these third parties may use cookies, web beacons, and/or other monitoring technologies to compile anonymous statistics about our website visitors. Check out Network Advertising Initiative to get more information about interest-based advertising and your choices to "Opt out" of targeted advertising delivered by NAI member ad networks." fashionoffice.org/

Cytara is the virtual carrier for Fashionoffice
Since April 2009 Fashionoffice has activated Cytara (domain cytara.com) for carrying the Trendletter and receive press releases through her mailboxes. On 20 March 2009 the address 'trendletter -at- fashionoffice.org' was set out of function and it seems as it will not be activated in the near future. It is important to make some changes on your side to prevent that our communication breaks up. Please check out cytara.com for details.

Roboquin at Louis Vuitton
Tokyo based engineer Tatsuya Matsui has designed robots for the shop windows of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, the MOMA... His 'roboquin' is special: it learns from the behaviour of the visitors. The roboquin uses visual data recognition to figure out which poses make people want to buy its clothes... confashion.com/

Robots in music
The revival of 80ies electronic/experimental music is expressed by robots in music videos, such as in the video '1982' by Miss Kittin & The Hacker. The musicians are on tour now... fashionoffice.org/music/

Watch out a roboquin dancing to the magical downtempo by Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber, known as 'Tosca' in the video for the track 'Birthday' from the new album 'No Hassle', released in April 2009. Tosca is on tour, partly with visual artist Fritz Fitzke... fashionoffice.org/music/2009/tosca5-2009.htm

'Backcoupling' communication
Toronto based radio/performer and turntablist Mike Hansen is one of more than 50 international artists featuring music video as a lively artistic medium which redefines both Pop music and art on occasion of the exhibition 'The Communism of Forms'. The inherent meaning of the title 'The Communism of Forms' reflects the current trend in our global society to keep up the international interaction between artists, spectators, curators... in an emancipated, 'backcoupling' communication fashionoffice.org/culture/2009/communism4-2009.htm.

Contemporary design-art
Ronan und Erwan Bouroullec's 'Rocs' are made for deconstructing the space. The design idea behind comes from 'software': the system allows you to elaborate your taste infinitely by building your own architecture! fashionoffice.org/interior/2009/ufo5-2009.htm

Participate in making worlds at the Keywords School!
Get an additional view to the theme of this month's Fashionoffice Insight and visit the website of the Chinese artist Xu Tan, who researches since 2006 ‘keywords’. From 4 – 21 June Xu Tan invites to the 'Participating Project in Making Worlds' during the 53rd Venice Biennale in Venice. Through his guidance every member of the 'Keywords School', every ‘keyword’ serves as a medium to trigger different individuals to take part in certain conscious activities. The public flow of consciousness constitutes the main content of the ‘Keywords School’. The recruitment for the ‘Keywords School’ runs until 31 May! fashionoffice.org/culture/2009/keywords5-2009.htm
